Patriotic "Queen" Carnival.

LOtJAL SUPPORT REQUIRED

The publication of the New Zealand casualty lists has stimulated interest' in the '"Queen" Patriotic Carnival to , l>e held in. Wellington on the King's Birthday (June 3rd), for its purpose is to raise funds to assist wounded and disabled soldiers and sailors and to provide for the dependents of those who are killed. The carnival will be thoroughly representative of the whole province and we feel sure a good deal of assistance will be forthcoming. A feature of the carnival will be a great harvest sale, and for this purpose donations of all kinds are invited. Some cannot afford to give much financial ' assistance to the cause, but every home and farm can supply some goods suitable for a sale in Wellington. Farm and garden produce of every kind, home made preserves and cakes and handicrafts—articles of all sorts will be welcomed and will help to swell the fund. Tens of thousands of people in Wellington will bo glad to buy useful goods isom the country. Several districts have already formed local committees to forward the good work. Professor C'ardston is organising the carnival on beliall" of the New Zealand Patriotic Society. There is no time to be lost, and those who wish to assist so noble a cause should make a move at once. The secretary of the Patriotic Society U Mr Jos. Lewis', Grey-street, Wellington and the chairman is Mr H. G. Hill, of the Bristol Producers' Association, Wellington.
