« The relations between the Wellington Hospital and Charitable Aid Board and the Horowhenua County Council came up for further discussion on Saturday at the meeting of the latter body. Discussion on the motion was held ivci' until the council heard the views >f a deputation from the Levin Bor>ugh Council which waited on the. jouncil on the same matter. The imputation consisted of the Mayor (Mr B. R-. Gardener) ancT the Town Clerk 'Mr P. W. Goldsmith). Mr Goldsmith stated that it was coniidered b.v the Borough Council that :ome thing more should be done to obain separation from the Wellington hospital district, hence the deputation. Mr Gardener, in explaining the iresent position, recapitulated the negotiations that have taken place so far. 3e thought it Vigilt now that they bouJd wait upon the HospJlal Tnspec-;or-General and tell Tiim what had aken place—that though he agreed to everance the Board was not agreeable ind declined to grant it. He suggesiid that a deputation of the local bodies rait on the Minister and the Inspector md place the whole matter before j hem. The Kairanga Council agreed hat the Horowhenua County levy was disgrace. Their case for severance ras stronger now than before as flie ast levies showed a further increase. Councillor Venn saw no objection to he proposal to interview the Hospital Sonera!, though he did not Think ft •ould do much good. The southern Wings had flormely toSght fcxvtb and ail to stick to Wellington district, nd had brought the trouble on themelves and he had not much sympathy r ith them.
