1 .MONTHLY MEETING. The ordinary monthly meeting of the rlorowlienua County Council was held ■11 the Council Chambers on Saturday. There were present: Councillors 0. \Vatson (chairman), G. X. The matter was left to the Oounllors of the riding. Xo action -was taken regarding the ■nnplaint of Mrs Winter regarding the width of the road giving access to her property at Manakan. - Councillor Cately moved and Coumjillor Venn seconded that the Council object to the proposal of the Wellington. Hospital and Charitable Aid Board to purchase a farm for the supply of milk to it 6 various institutions, and suggest that the supply of milk bo obtained from the Boys' Training Farm at Weraroa or the Weraroa Experimental Farm. This iva& agreed to. Xotice of the levy on the Council for the support of the Wellington Hospital and Charitable Aid Board < as received by the Council.. Councillor Venn said that the Council had passed a resolution declining to pay any further levies. No doubt th« Board could enforce the levy, but the Council should place it* position before the Dominion. Councillor Venn said that when meeting: at 11 o'clock business could not be finished before lunch, and adjourninc for lunch was unsatisfactory. Councillor Cately said that in the winter months it was verv Inoonvsnlent for the southern members, and the northern members should try to meet them. , Councillor Freeman supported the resolution. He thought a way out of the difficulty would be to meet in Otaki. Councillor lletter said if the meetings wore held in the afternoon he thought it would be satisfactory. Councillor Broad belt said that he ' was agreeable to the proposed compromise to meet in the afternoon. Councillor Kebbell considered that the proposal to meet in the afternoon would not let the southern members ' get homo at a reasonable time. Councillor Stephenson thought that - 10.30 a.m. was a reasonable houir. On a division on the motion being called Councillors Freeman, KeWbcll, Monk, Cately aiul the cliai rman voted for it, and Councillor Broadbclt, Venn and Stephenson voted against.
