Shannon Notes.
RIFLE CLUE
The half-yearly meeting of the Shannon Rifle Club was held in the Mechanic's Institute on Wednesday evening. Mr G. X. Stephenson presided, and explained that the club had followed its usual practice in holding this meeting. The year had been a dead one as the Department had not been able to supply the club with ammunition Since the competitions lor cup. and trophies had been in abeyance that year the class-firing would be resumed for those who wished on Saturday afternoon. That would entitle the members to ammunition. He hoped all old and new would become active members. He proposed to reduce the subscription to os and write off all arrears. He moved "That in future the annual subscription be reduced from 10s to 55." Mr Roach seconded the motion which was carried without dissent. Mr Stephenson then moved that no further subscriptions be collected for the year 1914-15. and that all arrears be written off. Mr E. Sutton seconded the motion which was carried. I It was also resolved"That in the case of members who have paid their 191415 subscriptions or portion of them they shall be untitled to ammunition of that valuo after the opening of tho present season.' 'on tlie motion of the chairman seconded by Mr Bert Spencer. After some further discussion the meeting adjourned. Private J. H. Smith, whose name appears in the list of wounded is a son of Mr Smith, railway ganger at Makerua. Barton's circus showed in Shannon on Thursday evening to a fairly numerous audience They appear in Levin on Friday night.
