At a special meeting of the Colonial Sugar llefining Company, held at Sydney, proposals tor the turination of a new company were adopted. The new'company takes over all the Fiji and Xew Zealand assets, paying for these and goodwill £3,200,000. The old company is also granted certain rights in regard to taking up shares in the new company. Among the many curious AngloGerman relationship brought to light Ijy the war, none is more remarkable than that which involves a New Zealand family. It has been ascertained that Mr Wilfrid Staploton Bretherton of the Royal Fusiliers—who is a cousin •if Mr A. C.
