The Chronicle PUBLISHED DAILY. LEVIN. SATURDAY. MAY 1, 1915. OUR MEN AT THE FRONT.
The paucity of news about the New Zealand troops' part in the action at the Daradanelles is aggravating. Relatives and friends of our men at the front are besing kept in painful suspense through the lack of definite news. There has been a general engagement with our men participating (herein—that much ifi made clear by the Imperial Government's cablegram; but while loyal New Zealandere are lirond of this achievement, and iproud to be represented therein, if only vicariously, the human part comes uppermost through all the trying suspense, and the rejoicings and demonstrations lack a degree ot spontaneity through the absence of fuller details of the engagements, and of the price our people had to pay. It is at times like the present that we of the antipodes realise, more clearly the degree of constant anxiety and suspense that must be afflicting our kin of Great Bri lain. By way of supplement to the v-'iiiaiks foregoing, cablegrams, to hand to-day, an , of special interest. They ii Tiord that in the House and Senate ft Melbourne strong complaints were iiadp against the censorship, and imnediato protest was urged. Tn Lon<!ou the Times and the Daily 'Mail are protesting against the censorship, and nows being published in Mel-bourne ;nd Wellington which has not been i-unouncod in Britain.
