LONDON WOOL SALES
Messrs Dalgety and Company Limited have received the following cablegram from thoir London office, under date of the 27th inst.—The fourth series of -wool sales opened with a good attendance. There was a good selection and competition iras fairly animated. Compared with the closing rates of last sales good merinos, both greasy and scoured, were unchanged. Meditwn -were" 5 per cent lower; inferior greasy 5 per cent to 10 per cent lover; greasy crossbreds wore from par to 5 po rcent lower and medium and coarse 5 to 7* per cent lower. Scoured crossbreds were from par to 5 per cent lower; slipes were unchanged. SOUTHERN MARKETS: Christchureh. April 30. Threshing returns the end of 'March show that 4,665,529 bushels of wheat havo boon bagged, and there will be at least another million Bushels to add when threshing is completed. It appears .therefore, as if the crops will be a little short of requirements. The -wheat market is at a standstill, there being no buyers at present. The local oats market is easier, as no business can be done against the lower rates offering from Southland.. 'Buyers arc not offering more than 3s Gd at country stations, but farmers are not willing to accept this figure. There fc nothing doing in barley, as all prime quality from here has now changed hands'. The chaff market is firm. The offerings of potatoes have eased off since the. price was reduced to £3 15s at coun-
try stations. Some shipments have been made to Sydney, but private advice* state that tho market is easier there.
