uarley, 24 to bushels; beans, 2 to 24 bushels; buckwheat, or brank, li busliels; cabbage (drumhead;, to transplant, 1 lb; canary, 3 pkgs; carrot in drills, 8 to 12 lbs; clovor, 14 to 17 lbs; furze or gorsu, lor feed, 20 to 21 bs; do. for tingle-line fencing, to sow one mile, 3 to 4 lbs; kohl rabi (turniprooted cabbage), to transplant, 1 lb; do., drilled, 4 lbs; linseed, for flax, 24 bushels; linseed, for seed, 14 bushels, lucerne, broadcast, 20 lbs; do., chilled, 15 lbs; mustard, white, 1 pkt; mangold wurtzel, 5 lbs; oats, 3 to 4 bushels; parsnip, 10 lbs; rape or cole, 1 pkt; rye, 24 to 3 bushels; rye grass (if drilled, one-fourth less), 2 to 2} bushels; sainfoin, giant, o bushels; tares, winter, 24 bushels; do., spring, 2 to 24 bushels; trifolium incarnatum, 24 lbs; turnip, 2 to 3 lbs; turnip stubble, 4 lbs; wheat, 2J to 24 oushels. LAYING DOWN A LAWN. Wfien it is desired to form a laivn., the ground should be trenched as directed for the vegetable garden any time during the autumn. If the plot can be prepared in March, a season u:ay be gained by sowing the grass seed during that month; the surface must bo thoroughly pulverised and trodden down firmly. The following is a good mixture, il procurable:— Crested Dog-tail, 2ltfe; Fcstuca tenuifolia, 41bs; Festuea duruscula, 21bs; Lolium tenuil'olia perenne, 201bs; White clover ,21bs; Trifolium minor, 81bs; Poa Nemoralis and Sempervirens 41 bs of each. This mixture will suffice for half an acre, and will form a very good lawn, and if kept cut close answers most soils. Special mixtures for laying down lawns may also be nad from any seedsman. Some of our native poas and otEer grasses would answer admira'bly lor lawn purposes. If the ground is of a retentive nature, sowing the seeds should be deferred till August. Commence to cut as soon as the machine will act. Some prefer the scythe for the first time of cutting. Roll previous to mowing; this will save the knives ot tlie mower.
