Tlie Citizens' tSports Committee set ii'p in connection with the military tournament held on the racecourse la.st A\ eilncjjdjiy held a committee meeting in the Council Chambers on Monday evening. Apologies were- received from Me.sclame.s W. .M. Chirk. 11. Walker, "W. C. Adkins, tv. Ait-ken and 1)r Davies. The Mayor (Mr I?. IT. Cardener) preskied. The balance-sheet .showing a credit, balance of C'l7 17s (id "was adopted.
The Mayor suggested that some memento of the camp of the Sixth Mounted Regiment at Levin be forwarded to Major Samuels. O. t .
Mr H. Denton moved that the Mayor's suggestion be acted on. Tt would be a mark of appreciation of the com-
mittee
Mrs P. W. Goldsmith seconded th<* motion and it was carried.
Tt wris decided to Forward n letter of appreciation to Mr -J. W. Procter for his assistance at Flic crates.
The credit balance will be paid to the Belgian Relief Fund through the Levin Ladies' ConimTFteo.
Hie Mayor said that the ladies who worked up the entertainments for the men (so much appreciated by them) deserved the thanks of the committee. He moved that a very iiearty vote of thanks be voted to the ladie.s for their
assistance
