London April, 21. Mutton: —The market is very firm, partly owing to Government buying Australian mutton. Canterbury. (T'jd per lb. and as high as fiid for best finality light-weight. There is a limited supply of North Island at 6 1-1(5. and as high as «g«l for Tight-weight:Ordin-
ary quality. 6d : ewes.
Lamb.—The market is dull and unsettled. Canterbury, Sd per Jb for all weights : other than Canterbury, 7*d. .Reef.—The market is very firm and ■supplies of American chilled are small. The prices for frozen beef have "been affected bv large purchases for Government or Australian and Now Zealand beef at the market. Butter.-The market is quiet, but •steady. There is a i'air demand for best quality, but a poorer demand follower grades. Danish, steady, 142s to 144s per ewt; Now Zealand,' market qmot. 12.s to mi; unsalted. 138s to 140s ; Australian 128.s to 130s ; Siderlan. in fair demand. 1.28s to 130s; Argentine. 12(k to 130s.
Cheese.--'I here has been no alteration in t-he market since la.sl week. Lar^e quantities ot United .s'cates cheese continue to arrive. The Government Inlying kocp,s market steady and prices we!' maintained for New Zealand. There is a dull demand in the dairy trade on account of the high price. Canadian stock is small; white 96s to 95s per cwt; coloured 9-ls to 90s; New Zealand, steady, white 93s to 9-fs ; coloured 935; Cnited States, iu good demand, flats and doubles, coloured cS.ls to SSs; white 88s to 90s; Australian white and coloured, SSs to 90s ; English cheddar supplies are nearly exhausted. IOJ.s to 10(js Hemp.--The market is very quiet; there is nothing doing and prices have declined. New Zealand, good-fair grade. per ton £32 10s; fair, £30 10s; -Manila C3O.
