The Chronica PUBLISHED DAILY LEVIN. SATURDAY. APRIL. 24. 1915. TERRITORIALS IN CAMP.
Work ha.s been the predominating feature of the nioiiiited rifles iustruotiona camp at Levin this month. None the less, an occasional excursion to Pleaeiire-land ha« been made, and the troops broke up their camp last night after a fortnight spent under canvas, in mood immistakeably happy .•iiid demeanour obviously .satisfied. The good Indies of Levin certainly have bestirred themselves to give entertainment to the troopers in their spare evenings, and the citizens as a whole have backed up the ladies' efforts so well that success attended outdoor and indoor functions and festivities in nil instances. The work ot the camp has been equally through, and the men go away from Levin improved in nil respects by their two weeks' experiences. The tradespeople and shopkeepers of Levin have experienced a welcome ulip to trade, and the town ha.s been the brighter for the presence of so many uniformed strangers. The demeanour of the men has been excellent throughout the comparatively lenothy duration of the camp, and the reputntion they leave behind them will stand the territorials in.good stead .should fMiy future camp of the military he mooted for this district.
