The Value of the Wairarapa Cheese Output.
Last season tlif price obtained for cheese was slightly above the average of the past five years and enabled the ten co-op. dairy factories situate in the Carterton, Featherston. ureytown and Mart in borough district to distributee amongst their suppliers a total sum in round figures of £128.000. This season it is estimated tliat there will be a shrinkage in the output of these factories of about 12 per cent, but notwithstanding this, if the present price for cheese continues, and it seems that there is every likelihood that it will, the factories will be v able to pay out to their suppliers a total sum or approxi mately £150,000 i.e., £32,000 more than last season. If cheese had only realised the same price ae last season the payout to these suppliers would hare been, consequent on the drought, £19.000 less, so that the increase price consequent chiefly on the war means that an extra £41,000 will be distributed amongst the suppliers of these Wairarapa factories than wou!3 havo been the case in a normal season "Waira rapa Standard.. -
