THE AUCLAND FIRE. Auckland, This Day. Three hundred and fifty horses were lest in the fire at Craig's stables last night. The firm estimates the losses on the building at £7000 and the horses £11,000; fodder and harness at £0500, mechanical plant at £15,000; a total of £20.000. The total does not include a number of vans and lorries seriously damaged. AUCKLAND EXPRESS DELAYED. Feikling, This Day. A truclF forming part of the goods train coining into Feilding at one o'clock this morning became derailed when half a mile from the station. It was drawn on the ballast and sleepers right up to the station before turning over - . The truck wheel stripped the holts off the fish-plates along the line, and at the bridge over the Makino stream it smashed all the sleepers and decking. A gang turned out and it took tliem several hours to the line. The Auckland express was delayed -For five hours. A MINISTER SPTfPRTSTCD. Gore, This \Da_v. Residents- of Waihaka, fourteen miles from Gore, were surprised yesterday morning when a gang of men commenced to dismantle the railway station. There was no explanation given by the men at work, and" it was two hours before the Telegraph Office opened. An indignation meeting was held and a telegram of protest forwarded to the member for the district, who is now in touch with the Minister for Railways. Tn reply, the Hon Mr Frase r said he was greatly surpnscd to learn what had taken place. PETITION ABANDONED. ' Hastings. This Day. In the face of the decision of the Kull Court. All' H. M. Campbell has decided to proceed no further with the petition against the return of Dr McNab as member for Hawke's Bay. TO HELP DISTRESS. Masterton. This Day A series of patriotic concerts, sales and gilts of flags in aid of Great Bri tain and her Allies' Relief Fund, has been held in various towns of the Wairarapa. The series concluded at Mai tinborongh last night. The total raised is £6708 for concerts and flags, as follows:—MastertoTi £2000. Featherston £1300, Carterton £800. Martin borough £2500, LABOUR'S IDEA. Auckland, This Day. Tho Labourers' Union has passed a resolution protesting against the Government under-cutting awards, in paving less than awards rate of wages, violating the awards hours of work, and compelling labourers to pay tram fares when take out of town. It was resolved to send a copy of the resolution to the Premier, the Minister for Labour, and all members of the House of Representatives.
