♦ itiy our Resident Representative.; The staff of the Shannon Aleat <.'uuil'iiiiy met on Saturday night to make a -presentation to Jlr Aldcrsey who is about to (jiiit the ranks of the bachelor« and become a happy benedict. The presentation took the form of a jinr.se 1 of .sovereigns, and Mr (Wis, in making the. presentation. wished .Mr Aldeiaey niueli happiness in liis new .state of life. Mr Aldersev acknowledged the gift ill a few well-cfyiscn words. The Veil JSede's ' Church was very prettily decorated for the harvest thanksgiving service on Sunday. The > Rev. C. Palmer, who took the service in the morning, preached an ini|>re<seive sermon, taking for his text John vii., 37. —"Tf any man thirst let him come unto me and drink." f'l'he Methodist Church also had a harvest . thanksgiving, the service being . conducts hv the Rev. Mi- Rowe. who b ha.s recently taken charge of the Shan- * 11 on-Foxton circuit. The funeraf of Mrs Smith, a very old resident of Moutoa. took place at Foxton on Sunday afternortn. The Rev. Father Cronin conducted tlie service and the funeral was largely attended hy the many friends of the deceased lady. Mr Charles Roiiltori. who was killed h.v n railway accident at Packakariki. * wan a brother of Mrs Gardiner and Mrs Ji. Butts, of Shannon.
