' Jt is conjectured that Three airships were employed. Another report says that the airships were seen over Southminster at 12.45. Maldon at 12.20, Soiithwold at 12.45, Harwich at 12.55. Lowestoft at 1.10, and Wells at T35. All were going seawnrd and eastward. The inhabitants at Lowestoft wore warned by a siren and the noise of the engines was clearly heard. Three explosions followed immediately and three horses were killed in a stable. The machines passed over Felixstowe hut did not drop any. bombs. The Mayor of Soiithwold says that the airship came from the sea anil obviously was uncertain of its ■whereabouts. It returned seaward. At Maldon several houses were damaged and a girl slightly wounded, and chickens killed. Tt dropped bombs on the neighbouring village of Seyhridgo but they did no damage. GERMAN *\EROPnANES ACTIVE. Londo, April IC. A Taube came in the direction of Deal and dropped two bombs without doing damage. It reached Faversliain where shots were tired at tho enemy and then it flew towards Sittingbourne at a great height. It dropped a bomb in an orchard killing a blackbird and another linto a chalk (|tiarry harmlessly. When nearing Sittingbourne soldiers opened rifle and machine gun fire but .the result is not known. A British airman went in pursuit and the Taii.be Hew eastward. Shortly before one a German biplane appeared over SheerrioKs. An antiaircraft gun was fired at it and the biplane immediately dipped, recovered and ascended and travelled at a high speed across Shippey to the sea and escaped. It did not drop any bombs. RAILWAY BRIDGE DESTROYED. Pans. ApriT 16. Official.—A French cruiser yesterday destroyed the railway bridge connecting Aero with the interior lines of the Syrian railway system. TRAGEDY AND COMEDY. London, April 16.
