The ordinary monthly meeting of tlie llorowhenna County Council was held in the Council Chambers, Oxford-street Levin, o" Saturday. There were present: Councillors G. Watson (chairman), G. N. Stephenson, jc . W. Venn. G. P. Cately, G. A. Monk, F. C. 'letter, J. Kebbell, and H. Freeman. It was decided to make enquiries regarding the by-laws suggested by the Wellington Fire Underwriters' Association lor the storage ol dangerous goods. The question of the cost of lighting at Shannon to which attention waft drawn by Mr AY. M. All roads in the To floro and Otaki ridings will be closed for the grazing ' stock on and after .Saturday, 1 7111 just. The special orders adopted at the Council's special meeting authorising the various loans for roads in the county were confirmed. The engineer stated that the Railway Department had drawn plans For ■ a new bridge over the railway just below Manakau. Tlie new bridge is estimated to cost C-100 and the Department will ask the Council to contribute £250 The. plans provide For a Ijridge which will allow for the duplication of tinline. Councillor Retter moved and Comi- ' cillor Kebbell seconded that tenders he cnlled for a sheep bridge over the Ohau> | river to seive the properties of Messrs Adkins and Kay, Gladstone-road. Councillor Retter moved that steps be taken to take tlio continuation of Tararua road under "The t'nblic Works Act," and to effect the closing of the road in Messrs Roe and Bartholomew V subdivision. Notice of motion was given by Councillor Cately that he will move at next meeting of the Council that the hour of meeting lie 11 a.m. tor the months of June. July arid August.
