Occasion was taken to make a farewell presentation to lint. Crawford who is going to l'arapaiauiuu. Bro. The Rev. Crawford acknowledged the gift and said there was a great future in store for the temperance movement. The members of the Methodist Church met on Wednesday evening ;ii the Church schoolroom to say farewell to the Rey. .J. Crawford who is leaving fur I'araparauniU'. Mr E. J. Jtuld presided. After singing and prayer he briefly explained the object of tin' meeting and wished all present a happy evening. The children's choir sang "Jsring them in. , ' Mr Tobeck recited "The Amen Corner.' , ".Sweet Chiming Bells" by a choir of little ones followed, and then Mrs Gibson sang "Come Unto Me" with expression and pathos. Mr Gibson made n -lioit farewell *peeeli and expressed regret at Mr Crawford's kleparture and wislied him God-speed in his new sphere of action. Mr Andrew, of Manukait. spoke on the dangers arising from the continuance of the liquor traffic. Mrs Carter spoke highly of Mr Crawford's work in Shannon and presented him with a very nice dressing case as a farewell token of the •esteem of the •congregation. Mr Crawford, in acknowledging the gift, urged the members of the Church to individual consecration and to work to maintain the service of God in the listrict. Mr Andrew sang "The Lost Chord." and won applause. Mrs Keeno and Mi- Tobeck sang "He wipes a Tear from every Eye," as a duet. Mr Andrew favoured the company with another song "England! Thy Land! .My Land!" Mr Crawford proposed a vote of thanks to all who had joiitribwted to the evening's entertainment. This was carried by acclamation nnd after another song by tn? children's choir a very pleasant evening came to a oloee. A series of accidents have taken place of late at Messrs Sninkier* Bros" flaxmill.
