Lime-Sulphur solution.
The billowing recipe and method of making lime-sulphur solution was published in the Chronicle some months ago, but was missed apparently by a good many people, and we have been asked to publish it again. Yliis formula and method may be depended on as it is Has supplied to the Chronicle by an expert from the orchard division of the Department of Agriculture. I'orniula:—slbs good fresh lime (1111slacked); lOlbs of sulphur; water to maks 5 gallons yl finished product. lo make. — Put 2 gallons of water in an iron boiler and start the fire going. Add the lime. Mix the sulphur witli enough hot water tu form a good paste. "When the lime has fully slacked add sulphur paste to the contents of the boiler and stir well. Add water to make three gallons and bring to a boil, stirring all the time. Boil for lo minutes, stirring constantly. Strain the clear liquid into a barrel and cork to prevent air from coming in contact with it. For spraying use the above 'inie.siilphur mixture as follows:—! part of lime-sulphur to 9 parts of water for winter spraying; 1 part of lime-sulphur to 50 parts of water for early spring spraying of apples and pears, and 1 part of lime-sulphur to 80-100 parts of water for summer sprayings. This lime-sulphur compound should •show a test of 24. 1' or powdery mildew add 15 ounces of sulphate of iron to every 50 gallons "f the above spray*
