The niarkot for potatoes remains steady, and tli© supply good, and keen competition prevails lor choice lines. Oil urns are now available irom South at lower rates, and fair business is passing- We still continue to quote fowl wheat at 7s (id bushel, which is below landed cost from the south at the moment. We do not intend to increase the price as long as out present stock lasts. Very little business is doing in eats, on account of the Government placing embargo on shipments to Australia. Barley has advanced bd per bushel since las report. Moderate business is passin gin maize, and local stocks are small. Seed Algerian oats are in exceptionally good 'clemand. We have now a fair quantity for immediate delivery. Good business continues to be done in grass seed. The demand for chaff ie well maintained. Wheat stra wis plentiful but oaten is very scarce, the dry weather being responsible for the fact that farmers require their own sh' I,- :ee<..', porkers are in good demand. h«> ...tictajra are rather dul lot sale. h ,■. advanced. Choice lettuces are scarce, and satisfactory prices are ruling. Celery meets fair demand. Mushrooms are eagerly bought up. Demand for S choice dessert and cooking apples remains firm and present values arc ' satisfactory. Cooking and dessert pears meet fair sale. "Auckland pas- - fiion fruit are arriving regularly and values are weaker. The supply of tomatoes from the Hutt has increased considerably and values are much lower.
