From A Levin Soldier
IN GAMP AT CAIRO. Port Tewfik, Feb. !•' , "We came out of the trenches about live days ago to the rest camp t.nd will not go back for a few days. We have seen very little of the enemy yet, although we have heaiu 'scrapping' going oil at different points of the line. One oi our sentries was iired on by a Turkish patrol dining one of our night watches, but the light was bad and the bullets went wide. Perhaps we will be in ii real mix-up belore long; 1 hope so anyhow. "Jack and 1 have been having some good tennis here with the local club nioinbers. Yesterday i played three sets. Tito players were all top-notch ers, and with two exceptions were all French—ladies and gentlemen. The club runs nigger ball-boys. 1 will be able to .send you some news after we get back to the trendies. "I am continuing this in the guardroom of the oilworks. We have five guards to do—one on the wireless; the others are at the water supply, cable end. and Eastern Telegraph Co. There iuro 16,()(X) tons of oil to protect from Turkish aircraft and other attacks. A •bi-plaiie flies over our camp ovary other day. but she has the Allies' disc on her left plane. The Australians are still in camp at Cairo. There is re liublc information that we leave for the front within a month; what luck, eh!"
