The present rainfall many have tiio effect of temporarily shortening supplies and ricreaso prices meanwhile. Onions ate now available from Koutli at lotv ratea and fair business is passing. We still continue to quote fowl wheat at 7s ijd bushel, which is below tile price it can bo landed at to-day. We do not intend to increase the price so long a-s ou: present stocks last. Oats have taken a further rise consequent on \ e removal of the duty in Australia. The further is, however, not certain. Barley is quoting at high rates. lsla id maize of excellent quality is now available. Seed Algerian oats are in exceptionally good demand. We have now fair quantity to offer for immediate delivery. Good business is .e----ingdone in grass seed. Chaff is offering more freely, but there is a hardening tendency in values. Wluat straw is plentiful, but oaten very hard to procure. The dry weather is :esponsible for the fact that farmers are retaining their oaten straw for stock feed. This same cause lhas also brought a big demand for Molasses lor cattle feeding. Porkers are in good demand, but suckers are rather dull of sale at lower prices. • Eggs are slightly higher. Now honey Is enquired lor, and would meet ready sale. Vegetables.—Cabbages sell readily. Choice lines of cauliflowers are scarce, and small lines offering realise satisfactory prcies. Green peas are offering in small quantities. Beans are Higher and choice lines are scarce lettuces, are in good demand at satisfactory rates. Swedes are in lair sale. All root vegetables meet ready sale. Celery meet fair demand. Fruit.—Choice dessert and cooking apples are in good demand "and prices have advanced for good green cookers. Cooking and dessert pears meet ready sals. Auckland passion fruit are arriving, regularly, and are in good deniaad " here is good demand for ripe tomatoes, and from enquiries made growers ill Hutt districts are experiencing difficulty in getting tlieir crops ripe.
