OTAKI STOCK SALE
Messrs Balgety aud Company report having held their usual monthly oaiir in the Otaki yards on Tuesday, 16th March when they offered a lieavy yarding of sheep and a medium yarding of cattle. Competition for wethers and good sound breeding ewes was keen. Forward lambs were also sought for. The sale all through was very satisfactory, prices realised being as under:
Sheep.—Forward 4-tooth wethers 19s 8d to 21s 4d; s.m. breeding ewes 13s 6d to 15s; poor condition ewes 8s to 12s Id; store ewes 8s to 9s 3d; medium woolly lambs 5& 9d o 6s 2d; cull lambs 3s to 4s Id. Cattle.—Mixed weaners 20s to 255; fat cows (light) £5 10s to £6 13s ;2Jyear medium heifers £4 10s; store cows £3 10s to £4; 21-year steers £5 18s: 18-month steers £4 ; bulls £4 to £5 10s. At the Addington live stock market there was a heavy entry of store sheep, probably the largest that has ever been in the yards, a fair proportion being from the North Island. There were moderate entries in the other departments and a large attendance of buyers. Fat cattle sold well, but fat lambs and fat sheep were easier owing to the heavy supply. The store sheep sale was not a very brisk one Good ewes and forward lambs were in the best demand and* other descriptions were easier.
Store sheep.—Good forward lambs 13s 9d to 15s 10d, medium lambs 10s 5d to 13s 6d, inferior lambs 6s 9d to 9s 10d, cull lambs 3s 9d ; to (3s 6d cull ewe lambs to 14s 6d, medium 2-tooth wethers 11s to 12s 6d, fairly good wethers to 16s 9d, good 2-tooth ewes lVs to 21s 3d, fair two-tooth ewes 15s to 17s, good sound-mouth ewes 12s 9d to 14s, failing mouth ewes 10s 6d to 12s; cull ewes 3s lid to 4s 6d.
Fat lambs.—Best lambs 17s 6d to 21s 2d. others 11s Gd to 17s.
Fat sheep:—Prime wethers 21s Gd to 24s 7d. others 16s 0d to 21s. prime ewes 20s to 25s Gd.. medium owes 16s to IDs (id. ulliers 8s to 15s 6d, merino wethers 15s 7d to 18s (3d.

There was a dull yarding of fat cattle at Burnside to-day. 140 being penned. Last week's rates were fully maintained, and towards the end of tli e.sale showed an aclvance of fully 7s Gd peh head. Best bullocks £14 to £15, medium to good £12 to £13 ss, light £9 10s to £10 15s. best cows and heifers £9 10s to £11, extra to £12 medium £7 10s to £8 os, light £5 iOs to £6 10s. There were 1900 fat sheep penned. Prices v?ere much the same as last week's rates, though towards the end of the sale they were Is per head better. Best wethers 2Gs to 29s Gd, extra to 31s, good to medium 22s Gd to 245, light 16s to 19s 6d. best ewes '23s to 265, extra to 30s 3d, medium to good 19s to 21s, light 15s to 17s, inferior 12s 6d to 14s.
There wan :i small yarding of 1)80 fat lambs, and a good demand for prime sorts, prices being on a par with last week's rates. Prime IBs 6d to 20s 9d, extra, to 255, medium 15s 6d to 1/s, unfinished 12s 6d to 14s.
