The working committee and the heads of Dhe various sub-couiuiittees who had in hand the organising of the party of the Levin Ladies' Croquet Club, will meet to-morrow afternoon at Mrs J. Mclntyre's house at 2.30 o'clock punctually. The general meeting will be held in the schoolroom at 3.30 p.m., not at 3 p.m. as adt*#rtised.
The garden party given by the i-ie-vin Ladies' Croquet Club yesterday afternoon on the Levin bowling green wa> a great success. There was a very large attendance and about £36 was taken altogether. A full repo"t. which has been crowded out of this issue will appear to-morrow.
The third annual dance of the H.A.C'.B.S. was held in t"he Town Hall on Wednesday night. There was a fair attendance. In all interval in the dancing Mr J. P. White sang a song (encored) and Mr J. Cooper played a violin solo. Miss Pink (piano). Miss Williamson (violin) and Mr G. Lester (cornet) were the musicians, and Messrs P. Tuohy and M. Ryder, M's.C. ' Owing to - indisposition the secretary of the Society (Mr T. Johnson) was unavoidably absent. Superintendent Ellison in the charge of Wellington police district, visited Levin yesterday afternoon and officially inspected the police station and records. He left by the New Ply mouth express for tho south the same evening. The action of the Levin Chamber of Commerce in drawing the,department's attention to the obsolete system in vogue at the local telephone exchange, already has resulted in the department promising Mr T. G. Vincent( who brought the matter up at the last meeting of the Chamber) that Levin will he the next place to have tho new metallic system installed.
