Tho market for potatoes Iremains steady, and the supply good, in botl quantity and quility. The presenl rainfall many have the effect of temporarily shortening supplies and i r i crease prices meanwhile. Onions art now available from South at low rates and fair business is passing. "We stii continue to quote fowl wheat at 7s oc bushel, which is below the price it car be landed at to-day. AYe do not intend to increase the price so long a: our present stocks last. Oats have taken a further rise consequent on •. t removal of the duty in Australia. Tin further is, however, not certain. Barlej is quoting at high rates. Isla.it maize of excellent quality is now available. Seed Algerian oats are in exceptionally good demand. \\*e have now fair quantity to offer for immediate delivery. Good business is leingdoue in grass seed. Chaff is offering more /freely, but there 'is a hardening tendency in values. YVhe-ii straw is plentiful, but oaten very hard to procure. The dry weather is esponsible for the fact that farmers art
retaining their oaten straw for stock feed. This same cause ihais also brought a big demand for Molasses lor cattle feeding. Porkers are in good demand, but suckers are rather dull of sale at lower prices. ; Eggs are slightly higher. Now honey is" enquired for, and would meet ready sale. Vegetables Cabbages sell readily. (Choice lilies of cauliflowers are scarce, and small lines offering realise satisfactory prcie6. Green peas are offering I in small quantities. Beans are Tiiglier . and choice lines arc scarce lettuces. | are in good demand at satisfactory rates. Swedes are in fair sale. All root vegetables meet ready sale. Celery meet fair demand. Fruit—Choice dessert and choking apples arc in good demand and prices have advanced for good green cookers. Cooking and dessert pears meet ready sals.
