Horowhenua Fruitgrow ers' Association.
MONTHLY MEETING. The ordinary monthly meeting of the Borowhenua Fruitgrowers' Association was held hi Mr D. Smart's rooms 'in Friday evening. There were present: Messrs H. Bower, S. Newport, D. Smart, J. Uancox, F. O. Smith, M. Fosella, J. O. Neill and S. Gilling . Mr Bower was chairman. It was decided that the (secretary, on behalf of the Association, forward a letter of thanks to Mr Drysdale. manager of the Experimental Farm. "Weraroa, for the courtesy extended to the members and visitors to the Farm on the occasion of the recent official visit. The secretary reported that he had not received a reply to the Association's invitation to the new orchard inspector to visit the meetings. Much discussion took plaace on the ravages of the small bird pests < r tiul » resolution was moved requesting the Horowhenua County Council to incre.is* , the price per dozen given tor small birds eggs, and also pay tor the heads of small birds. Mr J. C. Neill moved as an amendment that a conference of those ntoreetod in the extermination of small birds be called to devisp effective means to deal with the pest. Mr D. Smart seconded the amendment. The amendment was agreed to.
