Yielded milk till her^-bones showed through, Hide made bare by flto load she drew ; Lost all pride in butter-fat test; Pulled the plough without pride or zest. Then quoth O'Grady. "This milking must stop; Spot's for the plough; let the- buttei fab drop!" / "You and yer plough!" his helpmate , said— Jamming the milkpail over his head — Driving it down with a plump strong fist— ■ ' \ "P'raps that'll help yer to hoiild yer "whist I" "That's yer game, is lit?" Terence cried, Raising the pail—with an ear iuside — "Futuro that eow'll be 'nune alone, "Milking's what's making her skin and bone!" "\on and yer plough 1" said liis wife withs force; "I'LL keep Fairy; you'll buy a horso!" "ME buy a horse?" shrieked O'Grady; "not me!" . "I bought tho cow, so you let her be!" Hut for a sudden, alarming moan, Angrier still had this quarrel grown, And telling tho deeds had spread my verse, Swiftly, wordily—bad to worseTaking hurdles ol fact in my stride, Telling of blows and abraded hide, Piling up incidents—tail and chineAlso Tny payments at fourpenco a lino. (Terms by The Bulletin reckoned enough When I was younger and wrote better stuff); But ere the argument hotter could grow, Mr O'Grady and Mfesisalso, Cried together, "Ochoue the day, Spot do be gone from tho world awiiy!"
