through tho Customs, tlio Governineul might ooussidor tho advisableness ol taxing wool, butter and meat. The prices of theso pi-oducts have been 3ahanced considerably by the war and can easily stand a tax. Again those who produce the above-mentioned products art> said to bo tho backbone of the country, and the backbone of anything is always supposed to carry the greatest weight and bear the moat strain. —I am, etc., TRADESMAN.
