Mr Peter fcitewaro. of Levin, has resolved bo give to The War Fund onehalf of the proceeds of the sale of grapes 'From Tiis vinery. There is a good crop Tn the vinery, so a helpful addiiton to the fund should result from Mr Stewart's generous act. Two samples of the grapes were left at the Chronicle office to-day by Mr Stewart. They: arc BTack Hamburg and Sweot Water vspectively, and their quality is superexcellent. They may be purchased direct from Mr Stewart's vinery and also are on sale in town shops.

Dalgety and Company's annual hor.se ealde was held at their jCevin yards yesterday. Details will appear in the firm's report.
