HOSPITAL LEVIES
> WARNING TO HOROWHENUA COUNTY COUNCIL.
The Hospital Board received yesterday a copy oi the resolution rew*iuiy passed by the HorowJienua County Council:—-'That notice be given 10 the Wellington Hospital Board that after March 31st next this council will refuse to pay any demands lor hospital aid, except for hospital treatment, and at so much per head.''' Members of tiie board did not seem to be very perturbed at this intimation.
| The following official statement has been made on the - subject:—."The Horowhenua County Council has sent a ridiculous letter in regard to not paying its levies next year. If it persists in its proposals .not to pay its. levies, the board has no option but to make application to the Government to impound any. subsidy due to the Horowhenua County Council on the rates. The Board has no wish to takj any steps to harass any of the local contributing bodies, but if any of the local bodies delays payment of ts levy, it embarrasses the board's finances, and any extra, charges by way of overdraft fall back on all the iocal bodies."—Xew Zealand Times.
