Rev A. C. Randerson will preach on Sunday in the Presbyterean Church morning and evening. His subject for the evening service will be "The Eternal set in Man's Heart." Tho Levin Girls' Friendly Society I • arranging to have a .small sale of wor.lv and produce on the 10th March in St. -Mary's Church room in aid of the Melanesia 11 Mission. The hinds have fjcen seriously affected by the war. Present indications suggest that New Zealand alone will bo £1000 short. England which usually finds half the income will lie worse ; there is no question that Hie many friends of the mission in England will do their share, but there will lie delay. Being anxious to make this small effort a success the G.T\5. will gladly receive contributions of work oi produce from their friends. An inquest was held at Wellington on Thursday on the body of David Scott who fell off the train between Otati and Waikanao on Monday and died from injuries at OtakT. Henry Maitland. a builder, said he spoke to Scott on the carriage, platform and asked "Are you waiting for a seat. Mr Scott?" Deceased replied. "Oh, no; 1 am in a bit of a mess."' and as the train was making some noise witness understood deceased to say that he was troubled, as the young 1;k1v passenger who should have been with him had missed the train at Levin. Deceased added that he meant to get out at the next stop and walk back some miles. The iron platform gates were closed where deceased stood. A verdict iras retujmed that death was due to injuries reoeived through accidentally talking off the train.
