Wellington This Day. -\li Justice Chapman delivered judgment to-day in an appeal uy the police against the Magistrate's decision in dismissing a charge of permitting drunkenness against Christopher Jausen, licensee of the Wellington Hotel. J'ansen was away at the time and it was held by the Magistrate that Tie was not responsible for the wrongful acts ofi the barman. In his judgment His Honour took the opposite view and held that the publican's authority was delegated to the barman. He upheld the appeal and remitted the case to the Magistrate.
