THE WEST COAST FARMERS' PATRIOTIC FUND
ItESULT OF THE GIFT AUCTIONS. The. Gift Auction Sale promoted by the farmers of this district realised a very handsome amount as the undermention figures will show. The total realised was £569 lite Bd. Of this amount £300 has been forwarded to the relief of the poor of Great Britain; Ireland and Belgium; £266 3s Sci is to be handed to the trustees appointed for investment. This amjount will be devoted towards the relief of disabled local troopers who may need assistance upon their return from the front. The thanks of the committee are accorded to the auctioneering firms °f the district for the hearty manner in which they -gave assistance gratis. The Mayor, Mr B. R. Gardener, has supplied us with .the following balancesheet.
Receipts—Proceeds of stock and pi oduce at gift auction sales from Levin. Oh an and Kopuitaroa, £284 17s <5d : proceeds of stock and produce at gift auction sales from Otaki, Te Horo and Waikanae, £235 lis 9d; cash donations £49 Is 6d; total £569 10s Bd.
Expenditure—Great Britain, Ireland and Belgium Relief Fund £300advertising £2 15s;" cheque book 2s'. stamps 12s; total £303 7s.
Balance to be devoted to the relisf of disabled local troopers £266 3s Sd.
