A communique states that wo stopped the fire of the boats launched on the Anc-re river, north of Albert, before they did any damage. We slightly progressed near Perthes taking a number of prisoners. It was uneventful elsewhere. GREAT EVENTS AHEAD. Copenhagen states that tho Kaiser's visit to Wilhelmshaven, in conjunction with the warning to commercial shipping, is interpreted as the prologue L o import-ant sea events. It is rumour<xl that Germany will try to engage the British fleet in southern waters while another squadron will go full speed north with the object of covering a landing of troops in England. The Social Demonkratien says with persistency that it was stated great contingents of troops were gathering at Wilhelmshaven at the time of the Scarborough raid. (Received This Day 12.40 p.m.) NUMBER OF ALIENS INTERNED. London, Feb. 3.
Lord Lucas, in tho House of Lord*, said that 18.259' alien enemies, exclusive of prisoners of war, were interned up to November 27th. 1911. Since then 191G were released on the War* Office's responsibility. CONGESTION OF BRITISH PORTS. The BoafJT of Trade will appoint a committee to inquire into the congestion of the ports. THE CAMPAIGN IN POLAND AND G ALICIA. IVtrograrl. Feb. 3. A communique stales that the Germans. harrassed by cavalry, have falbn back on Lipno. The German attack northward of Borjimoff was repulsed with heavy losses and their attempts southward of Pilitza were unsuccessful We advanced to a point in the Dukla Pass almost in the interior and traversed the principal heights, capturing guns, howitzers, and many prisoners. We repelled an attack south-east o« Uszok Pass with enormous Gorman loses. We annihilated a /battalion south-east of Beskid Pass.
