The Chronicle PUBLISHED DAILY. LEVIN. MONDAY, FEBRUARY 1, 1915.
A cable message received this morniug is to the effect that the steamship Tokoiiiiini, which leit our si) o res recently with I\mv /eahuult's gifts of clothing for the Belgians, was 'blown up off Havre, on the French coast. This is sad news, and the ladies, especially those who worked .so strenuously to make up and gather clothing for the suffering Belgians, will feel sad that their labour* have been in vain ; more so, that those for whom they laboured are deprived ol the gilts. Still, the loss of the gifts is .small compared with the loss of lito, and we hope that further particulars will come forward stating whether in addition to the crew, the passengers were saved.
