[PBR PRESS ASSOCIATION.] THE SOLDIERS' RETURN. Auckland, This Day. When a number of the -men who have returned! from Egypt applied at local Defence Office for their pay enquiries were made of the Defence Department in Wellington, and the following reply was received: "These forty-five discharged men. can receive no consideration They have failed in their duties as soldiers. Cabled information from General Godley states they have been discharged. You may pay up to tho date of their leaving Egypt. If dissatisfied they can claim individually on the paymaster at Wellington." The military authorities state that ten of the men were discharged for misconduct and others were punished far such offences as drunkenness, disobeying officers, and threatening behaviour to officers. They refused to be innoeulated against typhoid and this was tantamount to disobeying orders. AVELLINGTON , WOOL SALES. Wellington, This Day. He was a member of Parliament for.nine years and occupied many public positions, including the mayoralty of Feilding. He was also a member of the Wanganui Education Board.
