WEDDING AT SANDON BLOCK.
A very pretty wedding was solemnised at "the residence of Mr and Mrs J. H. Hollowuy, Siuidoii Block on Tuesday, January 12th, when Horace William, eldest son oi Mr and Mrs J. \Y. Wood, oi Buntiythorpe, was united in thu holy bonds of matrimony to Rose, fourth daughter of Mr and Mrs Holloway, of Sandon district. The Rev. Cowan, Anglican Minister of Huuterville, tied the nuptial knot in the presence of about 50 friends and relatives. The bride, who was given away by her father, was becomingly attired) in a gown of Japanese silk, trimmed with passementerie embroidery* and pearls. She wore the orthodox veil and orange bluissoms, and carried a lovely shower 'boiuquet- composed of reindeer fern, white roses and lilies, the gift of Mrs Manson. She also wore a. handsome neck chain and pendent studded with aquamarines and pearls, the gift of the bridegroom. Miss Phyllis and Phoebe Holloway attended as bridesmaids, the former wearing a pretty dress of crenie pique with saxe-blue sash, and the 'atteir a pretty saxe-blue poplin dress with creme sash. Each flower bouquets of choice sweet peas, and were the recipicnte of handsome guld brooches set with rubies. Miss Mavis Wood, only sister of the bridegroom, attended as little flower girl. She looked very dainty in a white silk trock and blue sash, ami carried a basket of choice roses, the gift of Mrs Manson. She also received a pretty gold brooch. Tho bridegroom was supported) by Mr E, S, Mcßean, of Palmerston North, as best man. The ceremony was performed just outside the front verandah, and at its conclusion the bridal party and guests adjourned to a marquee erected in the garden where they partook of a sumptuous wedding breaki'ash. The most noticeable feature on the tables was a. handsonfe two-decker wedding cake made by Messrs Stevenson and Phillips, of Hunterville. After ample justice hail been done to the numerous tempting viands provided by the host and hostess, the Rev. Cowan proposed the toast of the King. After this was drank he proposed the toast of the bride and bridegroom to which the bridegroom responded suitably. The toast of tlie bridesmaid was proposed by the Rev. Nicholson, oi Rewa, and responded to by Mr Mcßean. The toast of the bride's and bridegroom's, parents was proposed by* Mr C. Lever, and responded to by Mr J. W. Wood. At 3.30 [>.m. the happy couple 'eft amidst showers of rice, confetti and good wishes, by motor for Hiiterviflo to catch the express far Auckland where the honeymoon is to be spent. The bride's travelling dress was a creme lustre coat and skirt, and a creme silk blouse, the gift of her brother Tom, who is away in Egypt with the New Zealand Expeditionary Force. She wore a pretty shaded pink hat, trimmed] with a wreath of lilac and saxe-bluo silk. The wecltling presents were numerous, valuable and useful, testifying t<l the popularity of the ha.ppy couple in the district. A dance was hold -in the hall in the evening, but it was rather warm l»r dancing and the guests dispersed before midnight. It would take too much space to mention all the pretty costumes worn by the ladies at tho wedding. Tlie bride's mother wore a grey drees and Maltese lace tie, and tho bridegroom's mother wore a grey coat and skirt.
