♦ [By our Resident Representative,] HOWLING. The bowlers had a great time on Anniversary Day. It was a general holiday, and in the afternoon the green presented a, lively appearance, being crowded with visitors from Palmerston North, Terrace End, Foxtom and Levin. There was also a goodly number of Shannon players. A bowling tournament was held, tho results of which are -appended. Mrs Gardiner provided afternoon tea. First Round'. Itain came on about 5.30 p.m. and stopped play. Sinclair and Roach were leading with four games to their credit, Gordon surrendering to Roach and Galland to Sinclair. They will play off on a date to lie fixed. Mr Farglier thanked the visitors for their attendance and lioped that they would have better weather next year. On the spare riuk some of the Shannon players indulged in friendly games. TENNIS. The tennis players included Mrs and Miss Laurvig who have returned from their holiday trip. They passed the lime with scratch matches. A good number of Shannon rosidonts with a penchant for sport went to tho Foxton races by Mr P. Gill's drag and other conveyances. There wu m,-. ally-owned horses competing.
