I [i'EIl PRESS ASSOCIATION.] I DISASTROUS BUSH FIRjBS. PaMatua, Jan. 19. There has been disastrous fires £. iho Pongaroa district. A cyclonic gale has been raging. Gardner and Yeoman's sawmill was * completely destroyed', also oottagee, stables, and a big stack of timber. The estimated damage is £6000. Two bridges, valued at £209 each, near Waioiie, Akitio County, were destroyed; also an unoccupied bouse on .Mr -Davidson's property. Tiie fire swept through Mr Max Kay sor's orchard. ' It is reported that Mr J. AV. Murlay's fine residence at Pakowhai has been burned down. The road between Bannevirke and Pongaroa is blocked to vehicular traffic ind the mail coach is unable to get hrough. There ww rain hat night and Mw im ibsM.
