Butter. ylThe market is very firm. Good (Tenia nd continues for Colonial butters. Danish, steady, 1/iQs to 156s per ewt; Now Zealand, firm, a good demand for all grade 140s to 1425, exceptional! 1445; Australia, firmer, 138s to 140s; Siberian firm, a good de mand at 134s to 138s; Argentine an active demand 136s to 140s. Cheese—Market very firm. Canadian, good demand, Btts to Bls per ewt., New Zealand, firmer, 78s to 795, exceptionally 80s. A small shipment of Australian cheese arrived at Liverpool and realised 76s to 78s per ewt on spot. Prices for both butter and cheese are rising on account of congestion at the docks causing a temporary scarcity of goods on spot. Purchases of New Zealand cheese for the Government impart strength to tlio position. Hemp.—Market steady, prices well maintained. New Zealand good fair grade per ton £26 10s, fair £24 10a. Fair current Manila £28. January to March shipment good fair grade £26 fair £24. Fair current Manila £28. The output from Manila for the week was 16,000 bales. The wool market is strong.
