+ MO-NTHLV .UElvllNG. The ordinary monthly meeting ol' the lloionheuua County Council is being hold to-day in the Council Chambers Oxford Street Levin, the Chairman.. Councillor G. Watson is presiding. The following correspondence has been received and is being dealt with. The Secretary to the .trustees, of the Uemi Alatengi estate forwarded a cheque for £11 10 the cost of forming Winara street Waikanae. The Deputy Superintendent of the State Advance Office wrote stating that the board had resolved to limit loans to local authorities to £2,000. Mr F. O. Smith complained that last week he had three houses impounded' b.v people whom lie thought were not rangers. lie released them after paying under protest. 110 also objected to having to pay'a charge,of -Is for feed as the animals only in the pound lor a few hour's. He asked' that his money be ; refiiiidod. -i petition /from six. ratepayers in the Te Horo riding was presented asking that the : water-race at present running along :'tha railway line be extended thro'ugh :• their properties to provide water for their stock. . 1 -Referring to the question of noxious -weeds the President of the Bon i d of 3 Agriculture, Sir J. U. "Wilson, wrote asking the Council's opinion as to the } general opinion of the far;viers throughj out the county as to whether it was adp visable to have the Act fully enforced (a) in the whole district, or (l>) in any portion of the district. Mr J. Coyle. secretary of the Wel--1 lington Hospital and Charitable Aid Hoard wrote acknowledging the rcceipt oi the Council's letter of the 17th ult. .stating that payment- of at least a portion of the levies will be made this month. Ho stated that the Board had no wish to take extreme steps with any of the contributing bodies. It was, however, unsatisfactory, to have to arrange to wait until, say. August or September instead of March for the payment of levies. Ho trusted that the Council will be able to arrange for the final payment before the 31st March. Mr .T. W. Easson. of Kilbirnie, Wellington, wrote to say that lie lias taken np his residence in the hardwood districts of Now South Wales, and is in a position to supply the Council with all kinds of hardwoed for sleepers, telegraph poles, bridge limber, etc., at lowest rates.
