DYING FOR THE RIH
A STIRRING ADI>REbS. The "Petit Parisien" gives an account of au impressive ceremony at the 'burial-of'ten British soldiers at Hazebrouck. A procession was headed by 1 the Abbe Lemiie, tlie district member of the Chamber of Deputies, the Mayor oi Hazebrouok, and the Protestant clergyman. Tlie Abbe Leniiro delivered au address in which he paid a warm tri- . buto to the British soldiens. ''Why." he asked, "have they left everything abandoned everything sacrificed everything? Why do they descend upon our coasts every day like a wave that nothing can stayP Why are they standing by our sidles armed for battle, calm, interpid, gay, and singing— Because they are the champions of right. : Right had 1 been violated; the liberty of the nations has been endangered on the Continent. Treaties wheih bore their signatures have been toTrn up. They rose antl said: 'No!' and thero they lie for that cause. "You, monsieur, the pastor of tho Protestant Church, and the Catholic priest in our old Latin liturgy, each respecting freedom of conscience, have successively read over their bodies prayers which comfort and console. May your God, who is ours, hear them. May the God of diuty and of right watch over their mortal remains. May He receive their souls, and give them the reward due when one has been faithful to duty and right. "Eternal repose for you. We believe in the immortality of tlie soul and unfailing Divine justice."
