The Railway Workers' Association's Conference voted in favour of submit ting a proposal for its amalgamation ■with the -Australian Workers' Union to a plebiscite. Supporters argued! that tlie present system of eectiona.l trade unions is unable to successfully combat the encroachments of capitalism. The amalgamation of all unions is necessary. PREFERENCE TO UNIONISTS. The Central Council of Employers' of Australia strongly protested against preference being given to Unionists in the fitting out of transports and other Government work in connection with the war.
