RAILWAY WORKERS' CONFERENCE. Sydney, This Day. llio Railway Workers' Conference discussed the executive's report favouring the Government's proposal to ! borrow three million from the firm of Norton and Griffiths for Public Works purposes. It was resolved that .while the conference had every confidence in the executive, it strongly disapproved of the support given to the scheme. The executive explained that it supported the scheme owing to the financial position of the State and the growing uncertainty of the money market.
The conference opposed it on the ground that it involved the contract system, which was a violation of the Labour platform and the megation of the day labour system.
The executive resigned, hut lioldfc office pending a plehescdte vote.
