EVENTS IN SHANNON

The Board of Education has offered to subsidise the Shannon School Committee £1 for .£1 to provide an asphalt playground for the children. The Board will do this to the extent.of £35; so 1 hat if the committee can raise ±'35 they will he able to have £70 worth of asphalting done. With his end in view the School Committee and the school teachers risli to set in) a concert and dance which will be held on Thursday, Tune 11th next, in the Druids' Hall. Mr Richardson, the butcher who was one of the victims of tho fire, has re-started business next to Murray and Co.'s. The Tennis Club has fixed their •innual ball for .Tune 17th. Blanchards, - bell-ringers and entertainers company gave an exhibition of their skill in the Gillandia Hall on Friday evening. They are clever and versatile artists, each in their various styles, and performed to a large and well satisfied audience.

The Farmers' Union met last Wednesday and fixed up tho agenda paper for tlie coining conference.
