♦Sydney, This Day. The Hon. AY. Holman, addressing the Labour Council, outlined the Government's programme of seventy bills, including State market gardens, fisheries, ironworks, timber-mill, fire insurance, universal eight-hour day, abolition of one man control of the railways, fair rents bill, crusade against consumption, amended industrial arbitration, legislation towards reducing the cost of living.
Mr Franklyn (who declared himself a Socialist) declared that they must, do something more practical than nierely wear the red tie; Regarding the meat trust he declared tha when it came they would settle ft in twenty-four hours.
The proposed State fire insurance and fisheries are on iSTew Zealand lines. The crusade against consumption includes notification without publicity.
