'1 hrough the untimely death of A. Newman his widow and children were left in straitened circumstances, and the settlers of Koputaroa and Levin made a collection in aid. Mr Jthnabell, wlu; was tlie chief mover in the matter, this week handed to Mrs Newman the sum of <£44 8s Id, being the amount collected.
