The Kangiiikei County Council is to supply its engineer (Mr Mair) with a two-seater motor car in order to expedite his travelling over the country. Tho inspecter (Mr Thomas) has a car of his own, and the Council decided to allow him i'2s per annum towards its maintenance. Increased postal facilities for the Manakau and Kuku district, have been granted by the Post Office on the initiative of Mr Robertson, M.P. The FostiuasterGeneral, in a letter to the member for Otaki, writes as follows:- - "Sir,-- Referring to your representations at office on the : h'd March last in tlio matter of the desire of the settlers for a rural mail delivery between Manakau and Kuku, 1 have the honour to inform you that authority has been given for a four rimes weekly delivery to be established Between Manakau and Kuku creamery. The settlers residing 1 beyond the creamery in the direction of the beach side also desire a delivery. I regret it is not practicable at present to comply with their wishes, as the Manakau baker, who is <o perform the delivery as far as the creamery, will not go beyond that place; It is suggested that the settlers erect boxes at the creamery, and so participate in the benefits of the delivery. Since the Hutt disaster local bodies throughout the country are interesting themselves in the matter of regulating the storage 01 explosives on business premises. The question was brought up at the last meeting of the Levin Borough Council, and it is worth noting that, the Taumarunui Borough foreman recently reported to his council that the stocks of explosives kept in the town were enough to blow the whole place up. _ He recommended the restriction of stocks carried to one case of benzine, 25 cases of kerosene, one keg of blasting powder, olbs of gelignite or dynamite, and one packet of detonators. Any extras to be kept in a magazine ;>0 feet from a road. The council suggested co-operation by the storekeepers to ereet a magazine. 'I he report was adopted
