Ladies' Hockey Club Dance.
The enthusiasm kindled at th» meeting of the Ladies Hockey Club about a fortnight ago to raise funds ior the club rapidly spread through the local hockey woild, and culminated last evening in the most successful social gatlieiing and dance that has been held m Levin for a very long time past. From the first the ladies and then supporters worked with a will that meant success, and the result was that the financial troubles of the club were ended, and all it has to do now is to win the cup. There was only one oversight : the executive miscalculated the results of its own work. A hall twice the size; of the Druids Hall could have been filled easilyLast night the floor was a little crowded, yet everyone present appeared to thoroughly enjoy themselves. The music was supplied by the L.W.P. orchestra (Miss K. Williamson, Miss 1. Pink and Mr G. Lester) and went with a swing that set people dancing who had not danced for some time. Even the ladies preparing the excellent supper fell victims to it, and the plates of sandwiches and other good things came up out of the boxes in waltz or two-step time. (They disappeared at express rate). Extras m music wore played during the evening by Mrs Fairs, Mrs Wallace, Miss Johnson and Mr L. Nation, and a song was sung by Matahira. The supper was got ready and served round by the members of the club and was first class. An apology was received from Mr and Mrs J. Pobertson for non-attendance owing to a prior engagement. Messrs H. -Tudd and A. Dixon were M.'sC.
