Installation of Mayor.

Mr B. R. Gardener was installed us Mayor of Levin at 12 noon today. In opening the ceremony Mr P. W. Goldsmith (Town Clerk) recalled the fact that MiGardener had been Mayor continuously since 1906, in which year the borough was formed. Councillor Prousc, he added, was the only councillor who had held a councillorship for as long a term. Councillor Blenkhorn, as senior councillor, then read the statutory declaration to Mr Gardener, who made the customary response. He briefly thanked the councillors for their attendance, and recalled the fact that his record for continuity in the mayoral chair_ always reminded him of his marriage for the one dated from May and the other from April. It was twenty-one years ago next May since he was married, and they had been twenty-one happy'years.
