SCENE AT TAKAI'AI
Takapau, May : J
An ugly incident occurred in the divisional camp last night. The men's tempers have been sorely tried by the wet weather, and they ventilated their grievances by means of something like a riot. They alleged that they were not allowed to bring a change of clothing into the camp, and that the country units would be in camp seventeen days instead of thirteen according to regulations, and the town units would be in (amp eleven days instead of nine. They also complained of insufficient food. They rushed to headquarters and assumed a threatening attitude, but were dispersed by the mounted police, who received a volley of sticks and siones. Eventually the men became quiet and returned to their tents.
